Passau, Germany
We walked to St. Stephan's Cathedral to attend an organ concert played on the largest church organ in the world. The majestic organ had 17,774 pipes and 233 stops. The church also had the most powerful bell chimes in southern Germany. While the concert was extraordinary, Passau will not be remember with fondness. It rained steadily all the time we were there and there were so many people on the Cathedral Square that one could hardly move. For some reason, our admission tickets were missing from our envelope and we were denied admission to the concert. After about thirty minutes of standing in the rain we finally got tickets from a Viking guide. The hosts at the door were some of the rudest people we encountered. Several hundred people were herded onto a side door and we got in just minutes before the concert. After the concert, we were given five minutes to clear the building so they could set up for another concert. I was only able to take photos as I was walking out. We went to a McDonald's to get a drink. The owner was so rude and yelled at everyone who entered that it was not a public restroom. So, we went back to the boat cold and wet with bad memories of Passau.
