Panama Canal Cruise 2009 Galleries

Our Day in Miami Beach : Our first day of our cruise began with meeting a high school classmate from Russell, KY High School. He and his wife took us on a tour of Miami Beach. We drove around and I photographed buildings from the car. Then he took us to a Salvadorian restaurant. It was a great beginning to a wonderful trip.

Aruba - The First Port : We spent all our time in Aruba in the port city of Oranjestad becuase our excursion that we booked through Princess was canceled at the last minute. While buses and taxis were everywhere, we decided to enjoy shopping at the malls and small shops. Aruba is a very nice port with excellent weather and friendly people. We didn't see the poverty here we saw in some other ports. We felt very safe wandering around and taking photos.

Cartagena, Columbia : Our second stop was in Cartagena, Columbia. I was most interested in seeing this city. I heard a lot about it in "Romancing the Stone" and was disappointed to find out from our guide that none of the movie was shot in Columbia.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Dunn Falls : We spent about six hours in Ocho Rios and Dunn Falls. It was the one port I was wishing we had more time. It was the most beautiful and the people were wonderful to us.

Limon Costa Rica : Limon was one of the stops we looked forward to. I had a conversation with a ham radio operator there and he told me how beautiful Costa Rica is. We were to meet a friend there who was going to show us around, but the email linking us up never made it. So we enjoyed the downtown area on foot.
