Woodie Moore > The twin peaks of Mount McKinley, called Denali by natvies to Alaska, towers over the massive Denali Park. We were given a rare look at the top of the mountain which is usually obscured by the clouds.
Woodie Moore > Artist depiction of Denali Mountain.
Woodie Moore > This was near the entrance to Denali National Park.
Woodie Moore > The Ptarmigan is the state bird of Alaska. It is about the size of a small chicken and related to the chicken. Since it was the state bird, we decided not to try to see if it tasted like a chicken.
Woodie Moore > Denali is so large and expansive that photos cannot do it justice.
Woodie Moore > The first bus stop as we made our way back into the park. The round trip with stops for a box lunch takes about six to eight hours. It is an amazing journey with a new vista around every turn of the road.
Woodie Moore > The caribou were standing in the snow to stay cool in the torrid 70 degree weather. Remember that is about 120 degrees warmer than it can be in the winter.
Woodie Moore > The valleys were so wide. One can imagine what it must have been like when glaciers flowed here.
Woodie Moore > Every hill had it's own colors.
